All Saints senior program celebrates 30 years All Saints Senior Program, Third Age Learning Center is celebrating its 30 year anniversary with a Spring Party at 10:30 a.m. April 7, in the church parish hall located at 215 E. 10th St. in the Heights. The Third Age Learning Center will be closed Thursday and Friday, April 13 and April 14 in observance of Holy Thursday and Good Friday. All classes and activities resume on Monday, April 17. It would be great to champion MORE small business owners like these guys -- for instance, the Heights has become so “gentrified” with a chaos of architectural styles and cacophony of restaurants that come and go - it would be nice to support an affordable business area at 43rd and Rosslyn for vital professional businesses serving the greater area. Lenten meals and pancake breakfast at St. Matthew’s The Wednesday evening Lenten meals and lessons continue each week, until Easter. The community is invited to a “lite” meal at 6 p.m., followed by a Lenten lesson. The meal is free. Below is the statement released by Houston Chief of Police Art Acevedo about the closing of the Heights HPD storefront: I write to remind and inform our community partners who may not already know that due to its lease not being renewed by the building owner, the Heights Storefront located at 1127 North Shepherd will be closing this Friday, March 31. Although we will not be able to remain at the North Shepherd location, we are working with community members in the Heights area with hopes of reopening at a new location within a month. We hope to have an announcement on the storefront’s new location soon.
