Come out to the Gone to the Dogs! Festival and help raise money for all Border Collie Rescue and Fosters of Blisswood. The event will be from 2-10:30 p.m. Nov. 4, at Blisswood Bed and Breakfast in Cat Spring, Texas, and will feature sheep herding, live music and dancing, barbecue, wine and beer garden, hay rides, and shopping. Learn Local is hosting its second annual golf tournament from 11:30 a.m.-6 p.m., Nov. 4, at Clear Creek Golf Club, 3902 Fellows Rd. All proceeds will benefit Hogg Outdoors – a capital campaign to raise funds for enhancement to Hogg Middle School’s outdoor facilities. The tournament format is a four-person, best ball scramble. All skill levels are welcome and is open to players 16 and up. $100 player fee ($350 for foursomes) includes green fees and golf cart, lunch, 4 drink tickets, 1 entry into the Putting Contest and player swag bags. The Whistle Pig Single Barrel Ten-Year Rye Whiskey, Rainbow Lodge Anniversary Edition, bottled exclusively for Rainbow Lodge will be featured. ART ON THE AVENUE

With nearly 500 original works from more than 250 local artists, Art on the Avenue is Houston’s ultimate “buy local” fundraiser. Now in its 21st year, the event has grown to become the city’s largest silent charity art auction, benefiting the community revitalization efforts of non-profit community development organization Avenue. The preview party will be from 6-9 p.m. Nov. 9 with tickets $100 in advance; $125 at the door (include admission to Saturday auction); the auction and party is from 6-10 p.m. Nov. 11 and the cost is $25 in advance and $30 at the door. A Taste of Oak Forest is OFHA’s premier event. Give back to the neighborhood while experiencing some great food from local restaurants, paired with fine wines and craft brews. REAL MEN COOK FUNDRAISER
Buffalo Soldier Museum
In recognition of World Hunger Awareness, the Phenomenal Pearls Educational and Charitable Foundation (PPECF) and the 100 Black Men Houston Metropolitan Chapter will host a Real Men Who Cook fundraiser Nov. 12, from 2-6 p.m. at the Buffalo Solider Museum, 3816 Caroline St. Men will prepare their best entrees, appetizers, side dishes and desserts for guests to sample.
