The Houston Heights Woman’s Club welcomes all our Greater Heights area neighbors to an informal Open House from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Sept, 16. Ice cream and light refreshments will be served. The open house will be at the HHWC Clubhouse, 1846 Harvard St. The Club was organized in 1900 to support literary and scientific undertaking and to promote fine arts. Membership ensures the continued maintenance and preservation of the 100-year-old clubhouse while engaging in social activities and volunteer opportunities in support of charitable causes. Houston area Delphians present the first of four Distinguished Speakers scheduled for the 2017-2018 season. The 10th Annual AIM for the Cure Melanoma Walk and Fun Run 5K will be held at MD Anderson Cancer Center, Mays Clinic – 1180 Pressler St., Sept. 23. Having a strong support system can help you on your grief journey and be an important part of building a strong support system. Come out and participate in this non-competitive, non-timed walk through down the jogging trail in the middle of Heights Blvd. Next, hike along White Oak Bayou for over a mile to enjoy the open air then into the neighborhood of the Heights. The starting point address is 375 W. 19th St. The walk will be from 9 a.m.-noon Sept. 30. The fee is $3. There is no pre-registration.
