Houston area Delphians present the first of four Distinguished Speakers scheduled for the 2017-2018 season. MELANOMA WALK/FUN RUN

The 10th Annual AIM for the Cure Melanoma Walk and Fun Run 5K will be held at MD Anderson Cancer Center, Mays Clinic – 1180 Pressler St., Sept. 23. Registration/sign-in is 6 p.m., The Check Points perform at 6:30 p.m., followed by the opening ceremony, and 8 p.m. is the walk/run. When you lose someone you love, you are left to pick up the pieces and try your best to go on. Having a strong support system can help you on your grief journey and be an important part of building a strong support system. Houston Happy Hikers
Come out and participate in this non-competitive, non-timed walk through Buffalo Bayou Park. Families are encouraged to participate. Everyone participating must register and carry a Start Card and turn it in at the finish. Event will be held regardless of weather conditions. The walk will begin at Fonde Recreation Center, 110 Sabine St. The walk will be from 9 a.m.-noon Sept. 30. The fee is $3. There is no pre-registration.
