Ready to warm up after a chilly winter? The Chamber has just the event to do that as we kick off the popular Crawfish Festival and Parade right in the heart of the Heights, at the usual site, 411 West 20th Street.
Start your day at 10 a.m. with a parade that starts on 20th Street and winds its way down 19th Street. Fun for adults and kids, the Grand Marshall for this year’s parade is Jim (Mattress Mac) McIngvale of Gallery Furniture. The parade will also feature local marching bands, dancers, cheerleaders and drill teams.
Gates to the Festival open at 10:30 a.m. Vendor booths featuring all types of goods and services will be on-hand to show off their wares which can run from cosmetics, to energy services, to clothing and jewelry, art, plus much more. Here’s an opportunity to find that hard to shop for “special gift” for someone’s birthday. Interested in being a vendor? Oh, did we forget to mention the prime food attraction – CRAWFISH? Mudbugs will be available steaming hot along with corn and potatoes. If you are not a crawfish fan, don’t worry – there will be other menu items available along with cold beer, soft drinks and water. Prices for various items are as follows: Crawfish plate: -$20; Pizza – $5; Hot dog – $5; Cotton candy – $3; Beer – $5; Pitcher of beer – $20; Soda/water – $3 each or 2 for $5; Kids’ World entry – $5; Bungee jump within Kids’ World – $5.
And the finalists from the ever-popular Idol of the Heights competition will perform on stage for cash prizes.
We look forward to seeing you at the 2018 Crawfish Festival and Parade!
