Fall is finally in the air–do you feel it? Yeah, me neither, but along with the potential for cooler air this time of the year, comes tons of fun activities and events that benefit the pets in our city. In fact, there are so many pet related events happening over the next month, right here in our own backyard, that Tabby is taking a break from question-answering and rounding up an extensive list of everywhere you need to be over the next few weeks!
At BARC, every Wednesday in October is “Waggy Wednesday.” All dog adoptions (on dogs 5 months of age and older) are only $20! What a great way to add to your family and save a life this month.
Be sure to head over to CAP’s (Citizens For Animal Protection) “Howl-A-Ween” dog walk, costume contest, and pet expo on Saturday, October 13 in Katy. There will be a prize package that will knock your socks off and there’s fun for the whole family at this spooktacular event! For more information, go to http://cap4pets.org/.
Strut Your Mutt
Strut Your Mutt is happening at Stude Park on Saturday, October 13, supporting the Harris County Animal Shelter and hosted by Best Friends Animal Society. Go to https://friendsofcountypets.org/ for more info.
Houston Pet Expo
The Houston Pet Expo is in Conroe, Saturday, October 13 and Sunday, October 14 and is a woofing, chirping, and meowing good time for the whole family! Four-legged friends can receive “spa treatments” from local groomers, sample delicious treats, and try on the latest in furry fashions; humans will enjoy interacting with top trainers and learning pet-care tips from animal welfare organizations. Go to https://www.facebook.com/houstonpetexpo/ to learn more.
Free Microchip Day
Free microchip day is happening courtesy of Animal Justice League. On Saturday, November 3, head over to Mytiburger in Oak Forest and get your pet microchipped for free. iWalk For Animals Pet Festival
Houston SPCA’s iWalk For Animals Pet Festival is on Saturday, November 3, at Memorial Park. The iWalk for Animals is a walk and festival that benefits the Houston SPCA’s lifesaving programs like adoptions, cruelty investigations, 24-hour injured animal rescue ambulance, foster care, and more. There will be exciting demonstrations, live music and amazing pet-related vendors. And, of course, participate in everyone’s favorite Best Costume and Best Trick contests. Go to http://www.houstonspca.org/ for more information.
The DogPop Festival in The Heights is on Saturday, Nov. 3 and will bring together some of the best artisans and popup businesses and brands in Austin as well as some from our home town. Bring your dog(s) and friends for a night of shopping and dog awesomeness, and enjoy good food from local trucks and vendors, music from one of the city’s best DJs, beer and wine to keep you hydrated, and let your dog play in the custom Dog Play Area.
