We have a new restaurant opening in the neighborhood – FM Kitchen and Bar, located at 1112 Shepherd Dr. The new eatery brands themselves as “Good Food + Cold Drinks.”
On a recent visit, I ventured in for a quick lunch, ordering the FM Burger – served with cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion and Shhh Sauce – and a side of tots. The FM Burger, along with all burgers, are à la carte style, with six side order options ranging from fries or tots, coleslaw, or even smoothered green beans.
Per my order, my FM Burger was nicely done. No frills, nothing flashy – just a well-made juicy burger, accompanied by fresh veggies and tots. There was also a nice, spicy hot sauce sitting on the table for those wanting an extra kick.
The food menu ranges from Bites (appetizers), Soups/Salads, Burgers, Plates, Sides, Sweets and Beverages – with Dublin Sodas being stand out offerings. Coming soon, daily specials will be rotating on the menu.
Behind the bar, there are 20 beers on tap – with roughly eight local to Houston – and a full selection of bottles and cans. From the spirit side, six cocktails are listed: the FM Margarita, Watermelon Mule, Paloma, Ruby Rose, FM Punch, Caphe Sua Dae – the most expensive cocktail coming in at $9. Lastly, the wine menu offers two options: by the glass for $7 or $25 for bottles.
Dining options include table seating inside an ice house setting – garage doors opened when the weather is nice. The bar sits inside, as well, with plenty of spots to grab a drink and burger. There is also a large patio with ample seating, and for any animal loving readers – yes, they are pet friendly. The patio is also equipped with shade, and games for the young and young at heart.
My final bill for lunch was $11.57 (adding on a $2 fountain drink). A low price point across the board trends throughout the menu.
An all-around great first trip to the newly opened FM Kitchen and Bar. I’ll be back with dog in tow next round.
