Busy Greater Heights families are eagerly anticipating expanded access to high-quality, one-stop health care with next month’s opening of the Memorial Hermann Convenient Care Center at 1431 Studemont St. Residents are invited to tour the center, participate in free health screenings, register for door prizes and much more, during a free open house on Sept. 27 from 6-8 p.m.
Scheduled to begin treating patients on October 2, the 43,000-square-foot facility offers coordinated access to five important healthcare options: 24-hour emergency care, primary care, diagnostic imaging, sports medicine and rehabilitation, and diagnostic laboratory services.
“Our facility provides easy, local access to health care, including expedited emergency care, for a lot of people,” says Robert J. Carpenter, D.O., facility medical director and one of 15 affiliated, board-certified emergency medicine physicians staffing the Convenient Care Center.
24/7 Emergency Care
Dr. Carpenter explains that the center’s emergency care, with 10 treatment areas, is an extension of the Memorial Hermann Greater Heights Hospital Emergency Center.
“We have full imaging and laboratory services onsite, and the same capabilities as the hospital ER,” says Dr. Carpenter. “Patients can receive immediate attention for emergencies from the same emergency medicine physicians and nurses who work in the hospital’s ER.”
If patients need hospitalization, ambulance transport is available to nearby Memorial Hermann Greater Heights. If needed, patients can be referred to a specialist for follow-up care, from among Memorial Hermann’s extensive network of affiliated physicians who work together to provide coordinated care.
Primary Care Treatment for Common Medical Conditions
Also available at the Convenient Care Center is treatment for common medical conditions. Primary care physicians, with the Memorial Hermann Medical Group, offer routine physicals and vaccinations, sick visits and management of chronic diseases such as diabetes and hypertension for infants through adults. Twelve primary care examination rooms are connected to an obstetrical area with seven additional examination rooms.
Office visits are available weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. by appointment and can be scheduled online. Convenient surface-level parking and a bright, ground-floor lobby create a welcoming environment.
Outpatient imaging, laboratory and physical therapy
The Convenient Care Center also offers X-rays, CT scans, MRI and ultrasound, as well as a full-service laboratory, with three blood draw rooms. Walk-ins are welcome.
Additionally, patients will enjoy convenient access to sports medicine and rehabilitation services, including physical therapy for injury prevention and post-surgery rehabilitation. A specialized gym and two treatment rooms are available for orthopedic and sports medicine care.
Community Open House
Greater Heights residents can meet Dr. Carpenter, and other affiliated physicians, to learn more about their medical specialties and the center during the open house on September 27.
Event goers can meet Clutch, the Houston Rockets mascot, enjoy light bites and beverages and sample Steel City Pops popsicles.
The Convenient Care Center treats its first patients on Monday, Oct. 2. To learn more about Memorial Hermann Convenient Care Center in Greater Heights, visit memorialhermann.org/locations/convenient-care-center-greater-heights.
