Police say a nightclub security guard shot and killed a man outside a North Shepherd nightclub early Sunday morning. According to the Houston Police Department, patrol officers responded to a shooting in-progress call just after 3 a.m. Sunday at a night club at 5608 North Shepherd, where the suspect and another individual allegedly got into a confrontation while inside the club.
Witnesses say the suspect briefly left the club, went to his vehicle, and retrieved a handgun. He then began shooting aimlessly while attempting to re-enter the club according to police.
Authorities say a uniformed security guard and another man, seeing the suspect firing the handgun, proceeded to return fire, striking the suspect multiple times.
No additional injuries were reported. The suspect, believed to be in his 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene. As of press time, his identity had not been released. Police are still attempting to determine how many shots were fired.
