A typical Wednesday night has recently started to look something like: hurry home, walk the Kit Kat dog, feed said dog, feed self, and walk over to Sideout Volleybar to meet friends for a game of volleyball, laughs and drinks.
Living walking distance from the newly opened volleyball bar, located at 2623 Keene St., I stumbled across Sideout while on a walk. After learning of what was to come, I sent notes to friends to see who I could rally to play in the Wednesday night co-ed Grown Up Sports league. So far, our season hasn’t been a victorious one – we’ve won one out of five matches, with a double header on the books this week. Nonetheless, we’ve had a fantastic time with the Grown Up Sports league and the staff at Sideout has been part of that factor.
The bar has three sand volleyball courts, sitting on three acres of land, and is equipped with an 18 tap system of Texas beers, 65 craft can beer options, a full bar, frozen machine, giant game sets of Connect Four, Chess and Jenga. The venue is also very dog friendly – and is currently working on plans for a dog park to come soon!
The staff at Sideout makes it a point to get to know your name – a small and minor detail that doesn’t go unnoticed.
Grab friends, bring the dog and check out Houston’s newest and best kept secret. I see big things coming for this volleybar.
