Thai massage bringing all senses back into harmony

Souri Sisavath

The rigors of every-day life – jump in the car, sit in traffic, get to work, sit at a desk, rinse, repeat – can take its toll on every aspect of our being. Now, a local Thai massage parlor is offering residents the chance to sink into a world of peace and relaxation, all the while bringing the mind, body and soul together again.

Tucked away in Suite A at 737 W. Cavalcade, Harmony Thai Massage Owner Souri Sisavath says the massage aims to bring the three energies – mind, body and spirit – back into focus. Sisavath, a native of Laos, learned the art of the Thai massage as it was passed down from generation to generation, in this case from her grandmother, a native of Thailand.

After completing training in 2001-2002, she said her mission in life suddenly became abundantly clear.

“I realized the healing potential of Thai massage and decided to pursue my career in it with a mission of helping others,” she said.

Thai massage uses the gentle pressure on energy lines and yoga-like stretching to relax the body on a deeper level. Sisavath said this relaxation improves the individuals’ personal outlook, and their emotional status. Deep relaxation has been shown to promote a deeper, more restorative night’s sleep as well. Finally, this deeper sleep allows the body to heal itself physically, and allows people to feel more refreshed upon awakening.

Sisavath says Thai massage can help improve flexibility and reduce tension while stimulating the internal organs and balancing the body’s energy system; and it has also been proven particularly useful in remedying headaches, migraines, arthritis, sciatica, scoliosis, chronic fatigue and numerous other conditions.

Harmony Thai Massage offers a plethora of options, from those trying Thai massages for the first time or those veterans who rave about its effects. Among its offerings are Chakra therapy, Holy Fire Reiki session, an aromatherapy massage, a traditional stone massage, cupping and more.

Souri and her staff also offer classes on techniques ranging from hot stone therapy, energy lines and aromatherapy to Chakra therapy, ear candle therapy and multiple levels of Reiki workshops.

Every therapy offered (outside of Thai pregnancy massage), Sisavath says, is suitable for both men and women.
