It was just September when I introduced you to Linda K. Trieu, the owner of Three Hearts Apparel, a baby clothing and accessories company. I used Trieu as an example of the new generation of entrepreneurs that are found at pop-up markets across the country.
At the time, Trieu reluctantly (only because she’s a busy Mom) took on the responsibility to host and manage Pop-up at Aurora, located at the Aurora Studios, 129 Aurora St. The event sprang up when several vendors realized they all had a Sunday open with no shows.
The show was a success, and everyone agreed to set a holiday date which is this Sunday, December 17. The show is open 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. A heights based craft market with a unique selection of handcrafted designers and artisans as our vendors. All applications are reviewed and vetted by our panel of jurors.
Fellow Heights makers include Steve Sellers aka The Heights Santa from tic Jewelry Design, is there, and I bet he’ll be in full Santa regalia, Steve Ulrich, @fab.weld.wood, a furniture designer and sculptor will also have a booth.
There’s even a farmer in Big Creek Farms, a small family farm selling honey, creamed honey, and candles. From baby accessories, home decor, beauty and hygiene products, shopping for others and yourself doesn’t get any better than an outdoor market full of creatives. By the way, they’re carefully juried in too.
Again, the Holiday Market is this Sunday, December 17, 11 a.m. – 5 p.m., at 129 Aurora St, Houston, TX 77008. https://www.popupataurora.com/ Aurora is one of those sneakily named streets between 25th and 26th at Harvard St., right by Yale.
Independence Art Studios is hosting a Holiday Open Studios Sunday 1 – 6 p.m. This unique art studio space is housed in individual converted cargo containers, that all share a common deck. There’s a fire pit that is definitely the focus point this time of year.
This is a unique opportunity to visit one of the many closed art studios in Houston. Artists include Thedra Cullar-Ledford, Greg Weismantel, Bruce Sallee, Carol Ann Cox, Lisa Gale, and Ricardo Garza. While there, ask for directions to Itchy Acres, their neighbors open studio event. 419 Janisch Rd, Houston, TX 77018. http://www.independenceartstudios.com/
