Izakaya replacing Republic Diner
A Japanese restaurant called Blackbird Izakaya seems to be in position to take over the Heights Korean eatery, Republic Diner, according to Eater Houston. The new restaurant calls itself the first true izakaya in Houston, which is created by their open kitchen concept that gives the customers the ability to interact with chefs. Chef Billy Kin has hinted on social media about possible menu items, like raw big eye tuna and miso soup with matzo balls. Blackbird’s is expected to open before August.
