There are a couple of neighborhood establishments that are putting some wagers on the line for the big baseball game this weekend and like many of you, I’ll be routing for the home team for the victory and to see how these play out.
Good Dog Houston has taken on Los Angeles’ iconic Pink’s Hot Dogs in a friendly twitter tête-à-tête over the 2017 World Series. The chummy challenge was issued yesterday morning while the two hot dog shops were disputing which hometown team would take home the pennant, the Astros or the Dodgers. Amalia Pferd and Daniel Caballero, owners of Good Dog Houston and fervent Astros fans, were thrilled to confirm the details of the bet with Gloria and Richard Pink, owners of Pink’s Hot Dogs, via video conference yesterday afternoon. The rival hot dog shop owners decided that the losing city will pay the hot dog shop of the winning city to give away free hot dogs the day after the final game. Both Good Dog restaurants will debut the ‘Astros Dog’ this week, which will be featured through the World Series, as well as 50% off all Houston craft beers during every game. The Heights location is at 903 Studewood St.
Local brewery Eureka Heights Brewing Co. is also putting a wager on the table with Three Weavers Brewing Co., a craft brewery based in Inglewood, California. The loser of the series has to send a case of beer for the winner’s celebration. The two breweries just recently won awards at the Great American Beer Festival and both beers will be wagered – Eureka Heights’ Buckle Bunny (cream ale) and Three Weaver’s Seafarer (Kolsch).
Eureka Heights will be streaming the game live on their jumbotron and will have extended hours all weekend long and for the duration of the series.
