Raise your hand if you started 2018 with fever, chills, congestion, a cough and more. Now, raise your hand if your crud is still lingering around, not enough to stay home, but just enough for your co-workers to consistently bless you on the hour. I’ve got a feeling I’m not the only one that started this year with a bang.
This past weekend, I spent time resting and nursing my health. My sinuses have taken a hard hit, so I took them to lunch to try a new-to-me spot.
Local Pho opened in April 2017 in the Sawyer Yards Campus, serving up Vietnamese staples like their pho, spring rolls, egg rolls, bahn mi, vermicelli, coffees and teas.
The restaurant has their menu up on the wall as soon as you walk in to study and counter service ordering is what you can expect for your dine in.
There are two dining rooms filled with ample seating: one overlooking the adjacent Holler Brewing – yes, they have Holler Beer on the menu, along with a few other varities – and the other overlooking the Houston skyline. Local Pho going for a very modern, simplistic look.
Getting down to food, I ordered the Pho Dac Biet which is a beef noodle soup comblination of their Eye Round Steak, Meatball, Brisket and Tendon. Their Pho starts with gluten free rice noodles served with white onions, scallions and cilantro. You can dress your Pho with additional add-ins at the topping bar with jalapeño, bean sprouts, basil, lime and more. My bowl add-ins consisted of bean sprouts, jalapeños for my sinuses and lime.
My bowl had great broth and my sinuses are thanking me today.
