The beloved neighborhood eatery, Alma Latina Mexican Restaurant, has been closed for renovations after their recent kitchen fire. Loyal customers, we have good news.
“Thirty eight days later, we are excited to announce that we will be re-opening July 20,” the restaurant events coordinator said. “We are forever humbled by all the support and can’t wait to see everyone in the Heights!”
Alma Latina will begin service again on Wednesday, July 20. Normal business hours will resume.
Luv Me Tenders opens doors
Jason Hill and partner Cyrus Nasr have opened a brick and mortar version of the food truck Luv Me Tenders at 4400 Yale St. The location was the previous home to the Kipper Club and is off of Crosstimbers near Barbecue Inn and Flying Saucer Pie Company.
Families will want to mark their calendars for a chicken visit on Mondays, as kids meals are half price. This past week, the newly opened eatery debuted a second half price Monday, except on Wednesday.
From the menu, Hill said you can find other things besides chicken: biscuit sandwiches, boudin eggrolls, crab hushpuppies, fried brussels sprouts with county ham and red eye vinaigrette.
Some of the sides are inspired by the former Bird House menu, Hill said. On the weekends, expect brunch items like banana pudding and key lime pie waffles. Luv Me Tenders is also BYOB.
Luv Me Tenders is open 11 a.m. – 9 p.m. from Sunday – Thursday; 11 a.m. – 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
