Wednesday morning represented the continuation of a dream for several area high school athletes who committed to furthering their athletic careers at the college level.
Athletes from area schools joined thousands across the United States by signing letters of intent to compete for college programs.
In all, 16 players from local high schools announced their college decisions, led by Heights High School’s seven commitments. Among the most notable decisions was that of St. Thomas defensive end Chidera Umeh, who committed to Lamar University, while St. Pius X linebacker Jagger Pagano will continue his playing career at the University of San Diego.
