Decant on Wakefield to open Winemaker’s Lounge
In February 2018, The Leader profiled Decant Urban Winery at 948 Wakefield Dr., which intends to import grapes from various wine-growing regions around the world and ferment them onsite. Customers could then directly sample and buy the wine.
Now Decant’s owners say they will open their Winemaker’s Lounge space Feb. 6. The lounge will be a smaller space which will hold about 15 people, while their larger space is under construction.
Free community workout
This Saturday at 10 a.m., CrossFit Yellow Rose is hosting a free community workout. Clark Hibbs of Yellow Rose said the workout is open to all walks of life and levels of fitness.
“Grab a neighbor and bring them with you to 3514 W T.C. Jester Blvd. for some fitness for all,” Hibbs said.
Third Coast Home
Oak Forest resident Chris Seideman recently started a new business he wanted to share with neighbors. Third Coast Home and Commercial Services specializes in pest, rodent, mosquito and termite control as well as pool maintenance and cleaning.

Braun seeking last tenant for 2401 N. Shepherd
With the Heights H-E-B opening this week, Braun Enterprises is looking to fill its last remaining retail space in the development across the street.
Its flyer indicates there is anywhere from 1,500 to 4,436 square feet remaining on the first floor. Other signed first-floor tenants include Lovett Dental, Spenga boutique fitness studio, Club Pilates, Eyes on the Heights Optometry and Nails of America. The second-floor tenant is Phenix Salon Suites, which has a location on West Gray in River Oaks.
Doggett Ford’s first Ford Truck Month
Ford has Truck Month from Feb. 15-March 15, and this will be the first time to participate for Doggett Ford, located at 9225 North Fwy. The company says this is when the best deals of the year are offered.
And in another case of what’s old becomes cool again, the Ford Ranger trucks are back.
Heights Forum update
Developer Steven Kaufman provided additional information about the Heights Forum, a new project at 1336 N Shepherd Dr.
“We are the developers, Zeus Equity Group, but we also run a chain of free-standing (emergency rooms),” Kaufman said. “Our CEO has run free-standing emergency and traditional emergency rooms for nearly 30 years. We are one of the most-respected and oldest free-standing operators in the Greater Houston area. We current have three existing and two new sites. Heights Forum is our next development and ER site. We brand geographically, so that facility will be called ‘Heights Emergency Room’ and we operate under the flag of ‘Village Emergency Centers.’ ”
Kaufman confirmed that it was his intent to also sign a restaurant and other retail tenants.
