The COVID-19 pandemic did not dampen the Houston Heights Association’s 15th Annual Bicycle Rally and Scavenger Hunt, which was held last Saturday through Monday and included nearly 500 area residents.
In a Tuesday Facebook video announcing the event winners, HHA executive director Emily Guyre said there were 240 participants in the 15-mile course and 237 entrants in the 5-mile course. They all were given clues as part of scavenger hunts along each course, with prizes awarded to the riders who correctly identified the most sights or objects.
“It was so fun to see all the bikes rolling around the Heights neighborhood during this difficult time,” Guyre said. “We hope everyone had a great event.”
The top three finishers in each scavenger hunt received gift cards to either Blue Line Bike Club at 1504 Yale St., Wandering Star Adventure Emporium at 1504 Yale St. Suite B or Dolce Neve Gelato at 4721 N. Main St. Suite H.
A team called Pike’s Posse won the 15-mile event, while Ross Coburn placed second and receiving a $150 gift card to Blue Line Bike Lab and a $50 gift card to Wandering Star Adventure Emporium. Ross Coburn placed second and Lauren Ryan was third. Harry Rave and his father won the 5-mile event, with Molly Day finishing second and Katie Busby third.
