Less than a month after moving to the neighborhood, The Halal Guys is dealing with a break-in.
The Houston Police Department confirmed that the fast-casual Middle Eastern restaurant, which opened in December at 3008 Ella Blvd., was burglarized early Friday morning. HPD spokesperson Jodi Silva said the restaurant’s glass door was damaged and that money was stolen from inside a safe.
According to a surveillance video posted on Facebook by owner Masroor Fatany, three masked burglars broke into the restaurant at about 5 a.m. Silva said Friday afternoon that HPD had not yet received the surveillance video.
Despite being victimized, Fatany appeared to take the incident in stride in his Facebook post. He asked community members to report any information about the burglary to authorities and also asked to be notified of any community events in which his restaurant could participate.
“Thank you for all your support these past few weeks!” he wrote. “We really enjoy being a part of this community!”
