The eastbound mainlanes on Interstate 10 between Shepherd Drive and Interstate 69 will be closed from 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16 through 5 a.m. Monday, Oct. 19, according to the Texas Department of Transportation.
The closure is related to construction work on the Houston Avenue and Elysian Viaduct bridges, according to multiple news reports. The westbound lanes between I-69 and I-45 also will be closed.
In addition to the full closure east of Shepherd, eastbound traffic on I-10 will be reduced to one lane between Antoine Drive and Shepherd. The connector ramps from Loop 610 to I-10, for both northbound and southbound traffic on 610, also will be closed.
Those wishing to access the downtown area via I-10 are asked to use 610 as a detour route, taking 610 north and then east until it connects with I-69.
Also, the westbound I-10 exit to Taylor Street will be closed from 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16 until 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17.
