Theatre Suburbia, the longtime volunteer playhouse in Northwest Houston, is presenting a filmed stage production on its website as a fundraiser.
“Nipples To The Wind,” written and directed by Paula Coco and starring Janye Anderson, is available for streaming through Nov. 15 at www.theatresuburbia.org. Tickets are $25, with the first 25 purchasers receiving a $5 discount, and the film must be viewed within 48 hours after purchase.
The theatre, which recently relocated to 5201 Mitchelldale St., Suite A3, also is streaming previously recorded plays on a donation basis.
“Nipples To The Wind” also stars Laura Schlecht, with she and Anderson each portraying multiple characters, and features music by Kacey Jones. Coco makes a special appearance in the show, which is rated PG13.
The production premiered on stage in 2006 in New Haven, Connecticut, and toured nationally until 2008.
“This encore performance has been filmed to raise much-needed funds for Theatre Suburbia,” the theatre said in a news release. “Proceeds from this production will help defray the costs of maintaining a venue during the COVID-19 pandemic. We hope that watching it will bring some cheer and happiness in these unusual times.”
