A man accused of stealing a bicycle from a Heights home earlier this month was arrested, according to a crime alert from the Harris County Precinct 1 Constable’s Office.
Javier DeLeon, a 38-year-old Heights resident, has been charged with felony burglary of a habitation, according to Harris County court documents.
The alert from the constable’s office said deputies were called to a home in the 1300 block of Cortlandt Street on Nov. 1 in response to a recent burglary. DeLeon was identified as a suspect based on home security surveillance footage, according to the constable’s office, which said a man was seen on video entering the garage and leaving with a bike.
DeLeon was arrested Nov. 4, according to the constable’s office, which said the bike was recovered and returned to its owner.
According to Harris County court records, DeLeon has previous convictions for aggravated assault of a family member, assault of a family member, burglary of a building and criminal mischief. He also had an open warrant related to a forgery charge at the time of his arrest, according to the constable’s office.
