Houston police are looking into an area auto accident that left one woman dead and another injured last week.
The Houston Police Department said the woman who died, identified as 37-year-old Javonna Smith by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences, was pronounced dead after being transported to HCA Houston Healthcare Northwest Hospital.
HPD said in a news release that she was driving a gray Ford Mustang westbound in the 4000 block of Pinemont Drive about 4:45 p.m. Friday, Aug. 28, when she crossed over into eastbound traffic, hitting a red Subaru. The resulting collision caused the Subaru to subsequently strike a pickup truck, according to HPD.
Police said the passenger in Smith’s car, a 49-year-old female, was also taken to the hospital with minor injuries. The drivers of the other vehicles, a 24-year-old male and 21-year-old female, were uninjured, according to HPD.
