The Houston Police Department is investigating the origins of a fatal hit-and-run accident in the area early Wednesday morning.
The male victim’s identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences, according to police.
In a news release from the department, HPD said officers responded to the 9800 block of the Northwest Freeway just after 4 a.m. Wednesday to find a man dead on the U.S. 290 service road. The man had suffered some head trauma, and police said his injuries were consistent with being struck by a vehicle.
Based on items located on the freeway exit ramp above where he was found, HPD said the man is believed to have jumped off the connector ramp before being struck by a car on the service road.
Anyone with information in this case is urged to contact HPD’s Hit and Run unit at 713-247-4072 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-8477.
