Houston police are investigating a Monday night shooting that put a woman and a teenage girl in the hospital.
A 14-year-old girl was taken to an area hospital in critical condition, the Houston Police Department said, while the girl’s 36-year-old mother was treated and released. Police said two teenage boys, ages 14 and 16, were also with the victims but unharmed.
HPD said officers responded to a north Houston hospital check Monday night to find the two females suffering from gunshot wounds. The 14-year-old had been shot multiple times, and her mother had been shot in the ankle, according to police.
The women told investigators the shooting happened following a car crash around 10 p.m. Monday at 7400 Wheatley St. in Acres Homes. According to HPD, the incident involved two suspects identified only as Black males.
