A man was shot in the leg and hospitalized as the result of a domestic dispute in the area Thursday night, according to a Friday news release by the Houston Police Department.
HPD said Rosibel Umanzor, 50, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault of a family member after allegedly shooting 40-year-old Nelson Vasquez at 5355 De Soto St. Vasquez was transported to a hospital with “what are believed to be non-life-threatening wounds,” HPD said, while Umanzor was taken to a hospital after telling officers she felt dizzy and faint. She was subsequently arrested, according to HPD.
HPD, citing the account of Vasquez, said he and Umanzor were arguing about suspected infidelity when Umanzor retrieved a handgun from under a mattress. According to HPD, Vasquez told police that he asked Umanzor to put the gun down because it was loaded, and the weapon then discharged and struck Vasquez in the leg.
