Every year we celebrate Father’s Day and with this day comes a barrage of commercials on what appreciation looks like from a material perspective.
It got me thinking on what Father’s Day really means to me. It hit home when thinking about this question since my father started and currently runs this business today.
One of the first words that stood out to me was Strength. For more than 25 years my father has given his heart and soul to this company and it shows in every fiber of this company.
I can remember days when he would get home at 9:30 p.m. and be up the next day at 5 a.m. hitting the neighborhoods door-to-door for new customers. It was a grind that continues to show in Tru-Lite’s DNA. Whether going the extra mile to ensure a customer’s job is done right, or seeing an extra step that someone won’t tell us to do – seeing that need and doing it anyways. Things like this come straight from Dad’s DNA.
The next word that came to my head was Passion. My dad’s passion for getting a job done right and satisfying the customer is the framework for what we do. I can remember my dad taking over jobs and telling me, “Son, I could leave that glass semi-clean or I can go the extra mile and be passionate about what I do and just clean the whole thing.”
It stood out to me because even after three hours on a job he took that time to put his mark on the job. It’s something in sales that we strive for every day at Tru-Lite. We take the customers’ needs and put them above ours to ensure that they remember that gentleman who cleaned their lamps. It’s a recipe that continues to grow our business and serve this community.
The last word that came to my mind was Love. For all my years I have never lacked for that word.
But I never understood what it meant until I met my wife and got married and then she blessed me with a beautiful daughter of my own who loves me unconditionally every day. It was a full circle moment to what a father’s journey truly is about.
One thing Dad has always done is love. From truly loving what he does to putting that love to work in his everyday jobs it reflects in every fiber of our employees and this company’s DNA. We may not always have the best days and we may not always be perfect but at Tru-Lite Gas Products we can promise you that everything that we do is backed by the DNA of a father who has given 150 percent to making sure you, the customers, are happy and complete.
So whether it’s grilling with Dad in the back yard, or taking in an Astros game, enjoy the day with Dad and remember to hug your dad and let him know just how much he means to you. Ruben Phillip Sanchez Jr. Thank you for always being that father I can lean on and learn from and thank you for serving this community.
