Houston police arrested a man in connection with an area car crash last weekend that resulted in the death of a young girl.
The Houston Police Department said 37-year-old Felix Marcelino Vega has been charged with intoxication manslaughter in the 174th State District Court as a result of the Sunday afternoon crash at 2200 Katy Fwy. He was determined to be intoxicated and taken into custody at the scene, according to HPD.
HPD said the collision left the victim, identified as 10-year-old Dalilah Gonzales by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences, in critical condition at the scene. She was transported to Texas Children’s hospital, where she died Monday, according to HPD.
HPD said Vega’s black Chrysler, a black Honda Civic and white Nissan Versa were traveling eastbound on Interstate 10 at around 3:30 p.m. Sunday when Vega’s car struck the Honda from behind, shoving it forward into the Nissan. Gonzales was a passenger in the Honda.
