As Houston ISD prepares for the Thanksgiving holiday closures, the district is increasing available food distributions to ensure students and families have enough to last through the week-long break beginning next Monday, Nov. 23.
Each of the district’s curbside pickup locations will offer seven days’ worth of student meals on Thursday, according to the district, including the neighborhood supersite at the Hattie Mae White Educational Support Center, 4400 W. 18th St.
All sites will provide seven days’ worth of meals on Thursday as well as essential hygiene kits and cleaning supplies throughout November, according to HISD. This will be in addition to the Hattie Mae White site’s normal operations from 2-5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21.
The district said normal community distribution schedules will resume when HISD reopens Nov. 30. Student meals are available to any student age 1-18 and engaged in virtual learning. If children are not in the car, families must provide a birth certificate or proof of enrollment in any school district for each child needing meals.
