Fitzgerald’s, which has rocked the Heights for more than 40 years, is closing its doors at the end of December.
Owner Sarah Fitzgerald, who opened the popular live music venue in 1977, said Thursday that the final show will be a New Year’s Eve bash featuring Austin act Skyrocket! the Band. There are seven other shows open to the public between now and then, including “Last Chance to Dance!” on Sunday and Monday, a “Going Out of Business Party” Dec. 14 and a Christmas night show featuring 30footFALL.
“I hate to see it go,” Fitzgerald said.
Fitzgerald said she sold the 100-year-old building in July to Easy Park, a Chicago-based garage company that plans to convert the property at 2706 White Oak Dr. The 69-year-old grandmother has been renting the building since the sale and already has moved to Seguin to focus on activities “more my speed,” such as fishing and boating.
