Studewood Cantine, 1111 Studewood St. Ste A, has its grand opening this Saturday. According to its website, the restaraunt serves Tex-Mex and American fare.
The menu features wings, nachos, loaded fires, smoked salmon, charred flank steak and more, plus hand-crafted cocktails that can be enjoyed on the patio.
Bernie’s After Dark launch
Bernie’s Burger Bus is launching new late-night hours on the weekend and a new bar menu at its Heights location, 2200 Yale St.
Beginning Oct. 11, the hours on Fridays and Saturdays will extend to 2 a.m. Instead of sticking to the daytime menu, chef Justin Turner created new cocktails that will pair with limited menu offerings. The intention is to create a casual alternative to the Houston bar scene.
The menu won’t just be burgers and fries, but more bar-friendly as well, like appetizers and small bites, such as gourmet franks and fried chicken sliders.
Hando hires chef
Hando, the 24-seat restaurant serving Japanese hand rolls, is slated to open within the next few months and has just hired Man Nguyen as its executive chef.
Prior to joining the Hando team, Nguyen acted as sushi chef at Nobu, which is near the Galleria.
“I am truly thrilled to be taking the lead at Hando,” Nguyen said in a news release. “I am looking forward to combining my extensive knowledge of Japanese cuisine with my fresh take on hand rolls, to introduce guests to a totally unique eating experience.”
Along with Japanese hand rolls, Hando will serve sashimi, sake, beer and specialty cocktails, along with having a full bar.
Hando will be located in the Heights at 518 W. 11th St., and will be open daily for lunch and dinner.
Pumpkin spice lattes at The Roastery
The Roastery, located inside H-E-B at 2300 N. Shepherd Dr., is now serving its version of the pumpkin spice latte.
It’s made with homemade pumpkin pie syrup with real pumpkin, cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, ginger and vanilla and served with a homemade pumpkin spice mini donut.
Fajita Pete’s honors coaches
Fajita Pete’s, 1214 W. 43rd St., is celebrating National Coaches Day with week-long specials.
Coaches are invited to enjoy $1 margaritas and $1 tacos, limited to one special per order. The promotion began Oct. 6 and will end Oct. 12.
Guests may be asked to prove that they are a coach.
