The Houston franchise of Rita’s Italian Ice & Frozen Custard, 2802 White Oak Dr., is up for sale by the owner of that location.
According to bizbuysell.com, where the store is listed for sale, the owners are selling to be able to move out of the area.
“After four years we have built a profitable store that is a community destination. Now it is time for us to move on so we are looking for a new owner,” read a Facebook post on the store’s page.
Hawaiian BBQ coming to Heights
Flavors from the island are coming to Houston with L&L Hawaiian Barbecue, the fast-food chain that originated in Hawaii.
Its first outpost was in Katy, and the company will soon open another location in the Heights at 209 Heights Blvd., according to the Houston Business Journal.
L&L is known for its barbecue chicken and beef as well as its “Chicken Katsu” and “Loco Moco,” the latter of which is two hamburger patties served over rice and topped with brown gravy and fried eggs.
Be More Pacific in Heights
The Filipino cuisine of Be More Pacific Kitchen and Bar is soon to take root in the Heights at 500 Yale St.
As reported by the Houston Chronicle, co-owners Mark Pascual and Giovan Cuchapin teamed up with Longhorn Capital Group to bring the Austin-based restaurant to Houston this October. The restaurant is using Nextseed, a crowdfunding service, to build out the Houston location.
The menu will feature traditional Filipino cuisine and tropical cocktails. Condiments and sauces will be made from scratch.
New happy hour at The Classic
The Classic, 5922 Washington Ave., launched a new happy hour called “Board Meeting Happy Hour,” featuring a new menu and a “Build Your Own Snack Board.”
Drink specials include bottles of wine starting at $25 and all draft beers for $4. For a cocktail you can try the Campari Spritz or create your own for $7.
The new happy hour menu is available from 4-7 p.m. Monday-Saturday.
Italian microbrewery to open in area
Russo’s New York Pizzeria announced its newest franchise opportunity to be an Italian microbrewery, and its first location will open some time this year. Russo’s has singled out three locations for its new concept in Houston, with one of them being at 3415 Katy Fwy.
The concept will be a fusion of its restaurant, including Russo’s menu of pasta dishes and pizza, and the microbrewery, which will offer craft beers all brewed in-house. The team behind Russo’s expects to open more than 20 of its restaurant and brewery concept across multiple states.
