Matthew Pak and Shawn Bermudez opened The Burger Joint in the Heights earlier this year, and now the duo will be opening a new concept this fall in the same neighborhood.
The Taco Stand will be located at 2018 N. Shepherd Dr., and will have a patio and full drive-through service.
The menu will include street-style tacos such as pastor, barbacoa, lengua and carnitas all served with onions and cilantro on house-made corn and flour tortillas. Vegan and vegetarian options will be available as well. Burritos and frozen margaritas are also on the menu.
“I know people will be curious why we are deciding to go traditional Mexican,” Pak said in a news release. “I love the culture and traditional Mexican cuisine is my favorite food. My wife is Mexican, my kids speak Spanish and Houston’s love for tacos is never-ending.”
The Taco Stand will be open from 6 a.m.–midnight Sunday through Thursday and 6 a.m.– 4 a.m. Friday and Saturday.
Mini donut shop opens inside of BCK
The California-based shop Miss Mini Donuts opened inside of the American restaurant BCK at 933 Studewood St. Co-owner of BCK, Leslie Nguyen, also founded Miss Mini Donuts.
The shop is known for its small donuts that are decorated with bright colors and unique toppings, like cotton candy. The donuts come in boxes of 4, 25, 50 or 100.
BCK originally closed at the beginning of the pandemic and since reopening has not only included the new donut shop, but has added to its menu, with items such as spicy wings and a new selection of milkshakes.
