The food truck turned brick-and-mortar Sticky’s Chicken is a fun addition to Sawyer Yards. Its chicken is in fact sticky, but delicious because of it.
Ordering online is a breeze, with popular items highlighted at the top. I ordered the chicken over rice, which is sautéed chicken over garlic fried rice, Sticky’s sauce, aioli and green onions, and the OG wings, which come with five wings drenched in sweet garlic BBQ sauce, topped with green onions. With the wings I got a side of French fries.
The chicken over rice survived the drive home perfectly. The Sticky’s sauce and the aioli were drizzled over the chicken and rice and portioned well so there wasn’t too much sauce smothering the dish. The Sticky’s sauce was sweet and tangy, and mixed with the garlic fried rice, the dish had interesting sweet and savory layers.
The French fries were the crinkle-cut kind. What I enjoyed most about them is they were heavily seasoned. The extra seasoning worked to make the fries seem more than just plain fries you can get anywhere.
The OG wings were my favorite. The wings were big with a thick batter. The sweet garlic BBQ sauce had a thicker consistency than most wing sauces. Much like the sauce on the chicken over rice, the sweet garlic was tangy and sweet. Because the wing meat was also hot and fresh, the overall experience of the wings was delicious.
By the time I was done with the wings, my fingers where covered in sweet sauce.
I had ordered a dessert, but it wasn’t in the bag. I’m starting to realize how important it is to actually check the bag when ordering for to-go. Other than that, Sticky’s did a good job packaging the food for to-go and it was a seamless curbside pickup.
I can definitely see myself grabbing wings from Sticky’s Chicken in the future. I look forward to trying its other menu options as well.
For a business that opened right before the pandemic hit, it’s doing a pretty good job.
