Charges have been filed against a suspect who remains on the loose following the shooting of a man shortly before 9 p.m. Saturday.
Dietrich Thomas, 22, has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in the shooting of Johnathan Carter, 30, in the 6000 block of Wilshire Lakes Drive.
According to the Houston Police Department, officers responded to the shooting call and found Carter lying on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds. Witnesses said Carter was attending a family gathering when Thomas arrived and allegedly pulled a handgun and began shooting at Carter, chasing him down the street as he was firing the weapon and striking Carter in the right arm and right knee.
Paramedics transported Carter to an area hospital, where he underwent surgery.
