All-star teams representing multiple divisions of an area Little League recently won big at local tournaments, with three moving on to sectional tournaments.
Select teams from five Heights-Norhill Little League age divisions won their respective District 25 championships during a round robin-style tournament May 29-June 7. To make it out of the six-team District 25, teams from HNLL had to defeat teams representing Parkwood National Little League, Denver Harbor Little League, Lindale Little League, North Houston American Little League and Northside National Little League.
After winning the District 25 title, teams representing the league’s Junior (ages 13-14), Major (ages 11-12) and Minors (ages 8-10) divisions moved on to the sectional tournament July 5-10 before their seasons came to an end.
“We’re just trying to make a name for ourselves in Houston,” Heights-Norhill Little League president Maria Butron said.
HNLL’s Coach Pitch and Tee-Ball teams also reached their division’s peak with the District 25 title. That’s where their seasons ended as there are no higher-level tournaments for those divisions.
