Hughie’s, 1802 W. 18th St., kept its dining room closed even after the statewide timeline for reopening allowed it to seat customers. The restaurant said it did this with the intention to be especially safe during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Still, Hughie’s has joined the growing list of restaurants choosing to close temporarily due to a staff member testing positive for COVID-19.
The restaurant announced the news via social media on Wednesday morning.
“The staff member was asymptomatic and has not been at work for over a week,” the post reads. “Our staff member followed all of our sanitation protocols along with wearing masks, gloves and continuous cleaning procedures.”
A reopening date has yet to be announced, but in the meantime, Hughie’s said it is deep cleaning and sanitizing its restaurant.
