Police have arrested a man they say was involved in a shooting on West Tidwell Road on Saturday afternoon.
The Houston Police Department said 27-year-old Khahli Wheeler is accused of shooting 27-year-old Adrian Salazar, who was transported to an area hospital in stable condition. Wheeler has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, manufacturing/delivery of a controlled substance and possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, according to Harris County court records.
Police say Wheeler and Salazar had a disagreement on Friday, when Salazar delivered food to a friend at the Somerset Apartments at 8000 W. Tidwell Rd. Court records show that Wheeler lives in the apartment complex.
Then on Saturday, HPD said Salazar was a passenger in his wife’s car when she stopped near the complex around 3:40 p.m. As Salazar checked the tail light, Wheeler allegedly pulled out a gun and began yelling in his direction from a nearby gas station before approaching and shooting him in both legs, according to police.
HPD said it received an anonymous, on-scene tip about Wheeler fleeing on foot into a nearby apartment, where he was subsequently arrested. Upon his arrest, HPD said it found the weapon possibly used in the shooting as well as illegal narcotics.
