A man has been charged with intoxication manslaughter for his role in a fatal collision between pickup trucks early Sunday morning on West 34th Street.
The Houston Police Department said in a news release Monday that Bayron Cruz, 31, had been charged with intoxication manslaughter in the 262nd State District Court. Police say Cruz was the driver of a black Ford F-150 that was travelling west on 34th Street when it struck a white Toyota Tundra heading south on Golf Drive and crossing 34th after leaving a stop sign at the intersection.
HPD said the driver of the Toyota, identified as 75-year-old Garden Oaks resident Guadalupe Sauceda by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Services, was transported to a nearby hospital and pronounced dead.
Cruz, who police say sustained injuries in the crash, was transported to another hospital and “determined to be impaired,” according to HPD.
