Drunken driving is suspected in a Monday car crash that killed an Oak Forest woman.
The Houston Police Department announced Tuesday that Esvin Crispin Aguilar, 28, has been charged with intoxication manslaughter in connection with the crash at the intersection of West 43rd Street and Cheshire Lane. HPD said the victim, identified as 46-year-old Karen Yager of Oak Forest by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences, was pronounced dead at the scene.
HPD said officers responded to 1500 W. 43rd St., where a green Jeep Wrangler and gray Honda Civic had collided at about 5:25 p.m. Monday. Police say Aguilar was driving the Jeep northbound on 43rd Street at a high rate of speed, while the victim was driving the Honda and attempting to cross the Cheshire Lane intersection at the time of the crash.
HPD said Aguilar, who has a Shady Acres address according to Harris County court documents, showed signs of intoxication at the scene and was subsequently arrested.
