A man was injured and taken to the hospital as the result of an auto-pedestrian collision in the Heights earlier this week.
Houston Police Department spokesperson Kese Smith said a male driver was traveling southbound on Yale Street in a Nissan Frontier pickup truck shortly before 3 p.m. Monday when he ran a red light near the intersection of Yale and West 19th Street in the Heights, striking a pedestrian walking eastbound in the crosswalk on the south side of the intersection.
The pedestrian, a 66-year-old male, was transported to Ben Taub Hospital in an unknown condition, according to Smith.
Smith said the driver was detained and questioned at the scene before police issued him a citation for running the red light. As the injuries appeared non-life-threatening, according to Smith, he said HPD does not anticipate filing additional charges.
