Millie’s Kitchen & Cocktails, the Oak Forest seafood restaurant that opened in April amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, announced Thursday that it will close for two weeks due to an employee contracting COVID-19.
Co-owner Chris Jones wrote in a local public Facebook group that the restaurant had an employee call in and complain of a fever and headache.
“We immediately had that employee tested for Coronavirus and instructed them to stay at home and not return to work until their test results came back,” Jones wrote. “We were just informed, that in fact, that employee tested positive for the Coronavirus.”
Jones went on to say that no other staff member has developed symptoms of COVID-19, the contagious disease caused by the new coronavirus strain. But for the safety of the customers and staff, he said the restaurant will close its doors for two weeks to be cautious.
“In addition, we have scheduled testing for our entire staff and ordered them to quarantine themselves until their test results are made available,” Jones wrote.
The restaurant at 3542 Oak Forest Dr. has been utilizing Roovy, an app developed by Millie’s co-owner Ken Bridge, that allows customers to order and pay for their food from their mobile devices.
