Girl Scout Troop 1519 was an active group of young ladies who attended Stevens Elementary, Black Middle School and Waltrip High School. Most of the troop met in 1961 in kindergarten at Stevens and graduated from Waltrip in 1974. Annually, the ladies gather for a reunion and still have great fun together. In the photo taken in Brenham this fall are, from left to right, Cindy Brashear Ash, Becky Edworthy Hampton, Betty Brashear (Girl Scout Leader), Denie Buffaloe Lunsmann, Suzanne Daigre Bathe, Linda Ramsey Steakley, Sharron Sims, Nancy Lockhart Gonzalez, Brooke Reeves Dyment, Dot Lockhart (Girl Scout Leader), Sally Loner Boyd and Kendra Enoch Plath. There are several other ladies who participate in the annual reunions but couldn’t make this one and were missed. Troop 1519’s Leaders, Betty Brashear and Dot Lockhart, still reside in Oak Forest, where the ladies grew up. Thank you for sharing, Nancy Gonzalez!
The Shepherd Park Plaza Garden Club celebrated the holidays with its annual Christmas dinner early in December. The club enjoyed a sumptuous Italian buffet at The Spaghetti Western Italian Cafe on West T.C. Jester Boulevard in the party room organized by Susan Fitzpatrick. Debbie and Tim Elliott, Nicole Felice, Colleen Roberts, Dennis Woodward, Pam and Joe Buenker, Lou Rice, Carolyn Long, Genevieve Erdbruegger, Maureen Sullivan, Michael Boucher, Linda Morgan, Gina and Kyle Johnston, Shirley Correll and Ruth and Kerry Rock all got into the holiday spirit. August and Beth Galiano had a particularly good time with the white elephant gift exchange, and the host at Spaghetti Western, Tyler Peck, said he had never seen such an exciting gift exchange.
The Garden Club promotes neighborliness through the beautification of our homes and gardens through educational events, garden tours and outings. SPP residents are invited to join the fun by contacting Colette Robichau at email@example.com.
