Dr. Clarence Oscar Dube, 94, born Nov. 22, 1922, died July 17.
Victor “Jimmy” James Green Jr., 67, born Sept. 1, 1949, died July 9. After graduating from St. Pius High School, Green enlisted in the U.S. Army where he earned the Bronze Service Star and was honorably discharged as a Sergeant in 1971. He is survived by his sons James “Jeremy” and Jacob, daughter Marlena, brother Alan, and two grandsons.
Carl Keppler III, 87, born June 8, 1930, died July 5. He grew up in the Heights and graduated from John H. Reagan High School in 1948. He joined the United States Air Force, serving at Scott AFB and Randolph AFB. He returned home and completed in 1956 a BS degree in electrical engineering at the University of Houston. He was employed with the Johnson Space Center working on the Apollo program and the Space Shuttle and completing his career as a System Space Shuttle Instructor. Keppler is survived by his son Craig R. Keppler, and brother Donald Keppler.
Wilda Mae Maness, 87, born July 13, 1929, died July 4. She graduated from Reagan High School in 1947. She met Lloyd Maness in 1946 and they were married Jan. 22, 1948. She was employed as an accountant at Rein Printing Co. for more than 20 years. Survivors include her two daughters Gwen Coronis and Janet Brast, sister Mary Jenkins, three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Maxine Kuhn Muske, 88, born June 13, 1929 in Roundtop, Texas, died July 9. She is survived by her son Donald Muske, brother Fred Kuhn, three grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to: Reach Unlimited, 11832 Mueller Cemetery Rd., Cypress, TX 77429.
Luis Joseph Romero, 69, born Aug. 25, 1947 in Edinburg, Texas, died July 11. Romero proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1966 to 1970 as an Air Traffic Controller and achieved the rank of Sergeant. He graduated from Sam Houston State University with a Bachelors of Arts with Honors in Photography with a Business Management minor in August 1973. He was a professional photographer and owner of Photography by Romero. Romero is survived by his daughters Stephanie Romero and Shelley Romero Rinehart, and three grandchildren. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 22, at the chapel of Heights Funeral Home, burial will follow at Hollywood Cemetery.
Olivia Cavazos Vitela, 75, born Aug. 20, 1941, died July 14. Olivia is survived by daughter Terri Littlepage, sons John Edward Vitela and Joseph Edward Vitela, sister Mary Jane Rogers, seven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
