Weird Church Words series at St. Stephen’s
The November worship series, “Weird Church Words,” continues this Sunday, Nov. 18, at the 8:30 a.m. Celebration Service and the 11 a.m. Traditional Service. This series focuses on the history and reasons behind the elements of worship, and why they matter.
Following the 11 a.m. service on Nov. 18, “Feast!” will be held at Cottonwood, 3422 N Shepherd Dr. “Feast!” is a fun fellowship event held on the third Sunday of the month at a family-friendly restaurant in the area. All are welcome.

Post-Thanksgiving dinner at St. Matthew’s
St. Matthew’s will host a Post-Thanksgiving Dinner from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Nov. 23 (or until food runs out). This is a great opportunity for those with no family or a way to come and be part of the St. Matthew’s family. The meal is free and will consist of turkey with all the trimmings, and plenty of desserts and drinks.
St. Matthew’s offers a wide variety of activities including Sunday School at 9:17 a.m., worship at 10:17 a.m. Other activities include the quilters, knitters and crochet group, exercise class, Weight Watchers, Boy and Girl Scouts, Youth Choir, a fabulous Chancel Choir and Pipe Organ.

Christmas concert at St. James Lutheran
St. James Lutheran Church, 1602 W 43rd St., will hold a Christmas concert Dec. 1. Come and enjoy the sounds of the season with popular Christmas songs, hymns, and carols. Performances include Houston Symphony musicians. Dinner starts at 6 p.m. consisting of tamales, rice and beans for $10. The free concert begins at 7 p.m.

Christmas program at First Church Heights
The senior event will be from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Nov. 27. The program is “Adult Protective Services.”
A Christmas program will be at 7 p.m. Dec. 7, in the sanctuary. The Donna Davis Talk Show, is a play written and performed by church members. The event is free and the community is welcome.

Upcoming December events at Vineyard Church of Houston
The Vineyard Church of Houston, 1035 E. 11th St., announces three upcoming events in December. AD Players will perform two plays Dec. 16. They will present “Improv in a Pear Tree.” They will also perform “The Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe,” at 6 p.m., followed by a Christmas party. There will be a 6 p.m. candlelight service on Christmas Eve.

Women’s Bible Study Group meets at the YMCA

Faith-based community garden in need of volunteers
Beauty’s Community Garden, 3201 Airline, is a faith based community garden in need of volunteers. Work days are Mondays and Saturdays and in return volunteers get paid with vegetables from the garden.
Also featured are free gardening classes the first Saturday of every month. Volunteers are needed to teach the gardening class.

Free meal program for seniors at NAM
Northwest Assistance Ministries welcomes seniors for a free hot meal and fun. Meals are served on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at 15555 Kuykendahl.
A two-day advance reservation is required for each meal. To qualify for the program, residents must be at least 60 years of age and live in Harris County.
