Another massive mixed-use development is sprouting up in the Heights.
Gulf Coast Commercial Group announced Wednesday that a 24-acre project called Lower Heights District is in the works at Interstate 10 and Studemont Street and will have direct access to the adjacent Heights Hike and Bike Trail. According to a news release from Gulf Coast, the master plan for the development calls for more than 200,000 square feet of retail and office space, eateries, a movie theater and 600 multi-family residential units.
The first phase of the project is under construction and will include The Alexan Lower Heights, a 370-unit multi-family complex, as well as 75,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space. Completion of that phase is targeted for mid-2020, with stores expected to open later this year.
The restaurants will range from fast casual to gourmet, and the cinema will occupy 45,000 square feet.
“Our team is eager to unveil more details soon,” Danny Miller, Gulf Coast’s vice president for leasing, said in the release.
