Two neighboring businesses in the Heights were burglarized last week, and Houston police are checking into whether they might be connected to a vehicle stolen earlier that morning.
Houston Police Department spokesman Kese Smith said authorities received a call to Melange Crepere on Heights Boulevard around 6 a.m. Nov. 29 from an employee who had arrived at work to find the glass on the front door shattered, before later discovering the restaurant’s cash box had been taken.
Roughly two hours later, Smith said HPD received a call from Cloud 10 Creamery one suite over, detailing a similar robbery.
Nobody was inside either restaurant at the time of the burglaries. Police said the suspect is a black male who was wearing a gray hoodie.
Shortly after 1:30 a.m. Nov. 29, Smith said a couple in the 1300 block of Heights Boulevard reported activity in their driveway before looking outside to see three unknown suspects climbing into their white Chevy Tahoe and driving off.
Smith said Monday it remains unclear whether the auto theft was connected to the two burglaries.
“We’re trying to connect all the dots at this point,” he said.
