Police are investigating an area car crash that left one man dead and put a young boy in the hospital last weekend.
The Houston Police Department said the victim, 55-year-old Kenneth Richardson, was driving a white Chevrolet Astrovan westbound in the 5200 block of Tidwell Road just before 6:30 p.m. Saturday, April 11, when he failed to maintain a single lane and struck a fence on the north side of Tidwell.
Police say the vehicle subsequently rolled over, and Richardson was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger, a 7-year-old boy, was transported to Texas Children’s Hospital for treatment of his injuries, according to HPD.
HPD spokesperson Victor Senties said police have not yet determined the boy’s relationship to the victim. Senties also said the cause of the crash remains under investigation, and police are waiting on a toxicology report to determine whether alcohol or drugs were involved.
