Two men were shot at an area apartment complex Saturday night as wreckers attempted to tow a vehicle at 6000 West Sunforest Dr., the Houston Police Department said in a Monday news release.
HPD said the victims, 19-year-old Alex Ramos and Leocadio Aleman-Dubon, 44, were transported to a hospital in stable condition.
According to HPD, Ramos and Aleman-Dubon were among a group of people surrounding a tow truck as it was in the process of towing a vehicle. The vehicle’s owner attempted to get in the vehicle, and then an unknown suspect armed with a long rifle approached and fired shots into the ground under and around the tow truck. The gunfire struck Ramos and Aleman-Dubon in the legs.
HPD said the tow truck driver and his passenger then lowered and dropped the vehicle, began to drive away and noticed the suspect running behind them with the rifle raised. The passenger leaned out of his window and fired several shots at the suspect with a pistol, but did not strike the suspect, according to HPD.
No charges have been filed in the incident as the investigation is ongoing.
